THE WORLD IS BREAKING. AND SO ARE THEY.
KATE HARKER isn’t afraid of monsters. She hunts them. And she’s good at it.
AUGUST FLYNN once yearned to be human. He has a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.
THE WAR HAS BEGUN.
THE MONSTERS ARE WINNING.
Kate will have to return to Verity. August will have to let her back in. And a new monster is waiting—one that feeds on chaos and brings out its victims’ inner demons.
Which will be harder to conquer: the monsters they face, or the monsters within?
Honestly I am an emotional wreck after this book. As we all know I love Schwab’s works and this one was no different. This duology was dark, creepy, and overall amazing.
One of my favorite things with the first installment was the lack of romance. It was so refreshing to see a YA novel that didn’t force a romance where it wasn’t necessary and this time around it is still one of my favorite things about this duology.
Then there were the characters who gained so much more development this time around. I know that with the first installment the development on them was very limited but this time around I feel like it was done so much better and there was so much growth between the characters that seemed to get a better explanation.
This book definitely plays with your emotions and I can definitely say that this book was just as dark and creepy as the first if not a little more so. I loved that this time around there was more of a mystery to the monsters. Everything wasn’t quite as it was with the last book and this change was really interesting and something I thought added to the series.
Overall I loved this book and honestly cannot think of enough words to describe the emotional rollercoaster that this book will take you on.
