First off I cannot believe August is already over, this month felt like it flew by. I was really not expecting to read much this month with school starting and general life getting in the way but I managed to read 13 books! This was an incredible amount to me and I still have no clue how I managed it. Even though I completed my reading goal of 100 books last month, I’m still keeping track so this puts me at a total of 113 for the year. This is definitely a record reading year for me. Anyways, let’s get into the books I read this month.
The Waking Land by Callie Bates
This read was from PageHabit’s subscription this month and while I had not heard of it until I received it I really enjoyed the story. It was a unique fantasy and while I had some problems with it I still really liked the story for the main part.
The Dire King by William Ritter
Now this stunning conclusion to a series is one I have been dying to get my hands on and I have to say that I definitely enjoyed this one. If you have not picked up Jackaby (the first book in the series) I highly recommend, especially if you love Sherlock or Doctor Who.
Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
I am sad to say that I really did not enjoy this story as much as I hoped. I had heard good things about this series and thought I should give it a try but quickly found out this story was not to my liking.
Panic by Lauren Oliver
Another story that I enjoyed but definitely found some problems with. I am beginning to think Oliver’s books are hit or miss with me.
The Enchantress Returns by Chris Colfer
My friend and I have been reading this series in honor of the final book being released and I have to say for a middle grade story I have really been enjoying them.
Wings Unseen by Rebecca Gomez Farrell
This is a read that I didn’t hate but definitely didn’t love. I had my issues with it but I will say it has strong female representation that helped make me enjoy the story that much more.
Switched by Amanda Hocking
At the urging of a friend I picked up this series and I have to say these are once again my perfect reads if I get in a reading slump. Something about paranormal romances always pull me out of the dreaded slumps and this one definitely did.
Torn by Amanda Hocking
Like I said above this series pulled me out of a slump and managed to become a quick little reading marathon. This one felt more filler but overall still was enjoyable.
Ascend by Amanda Hocking
I finished this marathon rather quickly and this was definitely a good conclusion to the series.
The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snicket
Finally I am continuing this series now that I was able to find the last missing ones from my shelves. I didn’t hate this one and really enjoyed it but it’s definitely not my favorite in the series.
Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
Now this book may be the most disappointing read of the month for me. I was really expecting to love this story but was saddened to really dislike it.
The Vile Village by Lemony Snicket
Hoping to finish this series in the upcoming month or two but I think this was another great installment to the series and I cannot wait to see the adaptation of this one in the Netflix series.
A Grimm Warning by Chris Colfer
This was another great read in this series and I’m so glad my friend talked me into reading this series with him because they are actually really enjoyable.
- I Hate Everyone But You by Gaby Dunn and Allison Raskin
- Invictus by Ryan Graudin
- An Alchemy of Masques and Mirrors by Curtis Craddock
- The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima
So that’s this month’s wrap up! Did I read any of your favorites? What was your favorite read from this month?
