Guest Post Review: The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty

Hey everyone! So this month I buddy read this book with my friend @theyawizard. We thought it would be kind of cool to post our reviews on each others blogs as a sort of collab. This review will be all of Morgan’s thoughts and feelings and you can go over to her page to read mine. I’ll link my post on her page down below. Also if you want to hear more about this book (especially spoilers) we will be having our live show on June 10th at 1pm EST. I’ll have a post coming soon about info and things like that for live shows in the future. Anyways, that’s enough rambling so here’s Morgan’s review.

synopsis

(From Goodreads)

An obstinate girl who will not be married.
A soldier desperate to prove himself.
A kingdom on the brink of war.

With a sharp tongue and an unruly temper, Sage Fowler is not what they’d call a lady―which is perfectly fine with her. Deemed unfit for marriage, Sage is apprenticed to a matchmaker and tasked with wrangling other young ladies to be married off for political alliances. She spies on the girls―and on the soldiers escorting them.

As the girls’ military escort senses a political uprising, Sage is recruited by a handsome soldier to infiltrate the enemy ranks. The more she discovers as a spy, the less certain she becomes about whom to trust―and Sage becomes caught in a dangerous balancing act that will determine the fate of her kingdom.

(Morgan’s Review)

Ok, hi! Morgan here! Today I’ll be sharing what I thought of The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty. To see Grace’s review on my blog, click HERE!

So, I really enjoyed this book.  It was a fun romp, and I highly suggest y’all read it if you’ve not.  This post is spoiler free, so read on if you want an idea of what to expect.

The characters in this book were well written.  They were well-rounded, and awesome to read in the POVs of.  However, it did get a bit confusing at times with the POV switching, and the characters tended to think with their genitalia and not their heads.  The male main character would completely ignore important things that the fucking ANTAGONIST was saying, because all he could think of was his lady love.  His dick was completely in control, and it infuriated me at times.

The action was done quite nicely, probably in part because of the author’s military history.  The sexy parts (one of which placed IN CHAPTER 55) were sweet and loving.  The side characters were a hoot.  The villain was a bit lecherous, and those of you who read my blog know how I feel about lecherous villains, but other than that, the characters were dealt with well.

Well, all except Clare, who I need to vent about.  She had such intense dropped foreshadowing.  The whole book, I was convinced she was a villain, and then she just. Wasn’t.  And I wasn’t the only one who picked up on this, Grace did as well.

Overall, this book was a fun romp, and just the cat’s pyjamas to read.  Overall, I really enjoyed it, and suggest you pick it up.

If you’re looking for your own fun romp, read this book along with us, and then come watch our liveshow for it on Grace’s YouTube channel (link HERE) on June 10th.
